JURIES GENERAL COMMENT

This competition taught me that NEWVIEW is a new reality, not something that is given, but something that is envisioned by each individual. Imagination can become creativity.
In the face of a pandemic, arts and entertainment have taken refuge in cyberspace, as have the NEWVIEW AWARDS. However, this competition, being the XR Content Awards, was more like a fish in water, vibrantly moving and photosynthesizing like a plant in the light, purifying this unexpectedly changed world! What is reality? In the year 2020, when people are forced into social distancing, the sense of appropriate distance between people has collapsed, public spaces have been sealed off, and non-contact with all things in physical space has been demanded, people's reality has begun to fluctuate wildly!!!! It is precisely because of this era that the meaning of "virtual" has changed dramatically, hasn't it? Yes, people have begun to realize that the virtual world they share with each other is already real, even if it is an artificial environment. .... DESIGN YOUR ULTRA EXPERIENCE!!!!! This competition taught me that NEWVIEW is a new reality, not something that is given, but something that is envisioned by each individual. Imagination can become creativity. That is my general comment on this year's competition.

As the tools for both AR and VR are well developed, the quality of the works was high and varied, making it very difficult to judge.

I felt a fascination from each work that could not be captured by the set criteria.
AR and VR were not familiar to me, and I had an image of them as new technologies to enjoy new experiences. However, through judging the entries, I realized that AR and VR are artworks, and also culture. The intentions of the artists were shown through the technology and images, and the works were made up of all kinds of contexts, such as historical and social backgrounds, connections to previous culture and art, and personal feelings. I felt a fascination from each work that could not be captured by the set criteria. I hope that in the future, the culture of AR and VR will become more accessible and enrich the minds of many people.

It felt like there were many responses to the isolation and darkness of 2020 - it will be interesting to look back on these in the future.
I saw a variety of projects - many personal visions. I appreciated that everyone had unique ideas for different worlds. It felt like there were many responses to the isolation and darkness of 2020 - it will be interesting to look back on these in the future. There were also visions of a more positive future - and of course there was a lot of surrealism. Everyone: please keep creating.
We are still in the discovery phase. This is a good time to try new ideas and be experimental. Many artists will be making their first works in 3D software. That's amazing, but at the same time, I think new artists should not be afraid to experiment with traditional media - and work in 2D. Drawing and painting are more important than ever.NEWVIEW AWARDS 2018 Judge

What stood out to me was how so many of the creators, across VR and AR, deeply considered the unique affordances of XR: space and embodiment.

I hope there will be further developmental breakthroughs in the educational, environmental, and even medical fields.
I am very excited about the application of future technologies, namely AR and VR. Especially this year with the global pandemic, people could experience different scenarios, space, and location through the utilization of new technologies. I hope there will be further developmental breakthroughs in the educational, environmental, and even medical fields.
